While I’ve just recently gotten into sheet masks, they have been popular in Asia for years. Meaning that there are a ton out there. It’s about finding the right sheet masks for your skin. I featured another handful of sheet masks last week as part of 30 Days, 30 Masks on Instagram. Some of them I loved and will become staples in my routine, others, not so much.
TonyMoly I’m Real Seaweeds Mask Sheet Skin Purifying, was left on for 40 (recommended 20 – 30) minutes, purchased as part of a TonyMoly package from Amazon ($10.76 for 11 masks) can be purchased individually from Peach & Lily ($3), Ulta ($3.75), or Urban Outfitters ($4). I love the bright packaging! Mask had a very clean scent, not what I expected from a seaweed (bladderwack, which is actually kelp) product. Fragrance is listed as an ingredient, so the scent isn’t natural. Mask was fully saturated and there was drip that I used for my neck. Mask had no backing, but was easy to unfold and there was no tearing. I layered a silicon mask over the sheet mask to keep it from moving. Mask fit well. My skin seems smoother, hydrated, a little tighter, but a little sticky. I had no negative reaction. Might repurchase.
My Beauty Diary (MBD) Natto Mask, was left on for 50 minutes, purchased as part of the MBD Carnival All-in-One Party Set ($24.99 for 16). Mask had a very light to no scent. Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans. Fermentation is incredibly popular in Korean Beauty. Mask was fully saturated, with extra essence in the sleeve. Mask has a plastic backing that makes it easier to open. Mask is very thin, meaning it sticks extremely well, no need for a silicon mask to keep it from moving. Eye holes are too small, apart from that, it’s a great fit. My skin felt firmer and softer after mask. Would repurchase.
The TonyMoly I’m Real Tomato Mask Sheet Radiance, was left on for 40 minutes, purchased as part of a TonyMoly package from Amazon ($10.76 for 11 masks) can be purchased individually from Peach & Lily ($3) and Sephora (2 for $7.50). The packaging is stinking adorable. Mask had a light sweet scent, nice but not like tomatoes. This mask does have fragrance in it. Mask was fully saturated, but not a ton of left over essence like MBD masks. Mask fits well. My skin felt firmer and was hydrated. A little sticky, but incorporated it into my nightly routine and I really like it. Am buying again (right now). Love the results for the price.
My Beauty Diary Royal Pearl Mask, was left on for an hour, purchased as part of the MBD Carnival All-in-One-Party Set ($24.99 for 16). This mask is suppose to be a freaking super hero and save my skin by brightening, whitening, nourishing, and repairing (imagine the J-Law ok gif here). The main character is pearl powder, while Mulberry peel essence and Vitamin B are two very dedicated sidekicks. Mask smelled lightly of baby powder. Mask was so packed with essence that it attacked my shirt when I opened the packaging. I could probably cover the top half of my body in the left over essence. It’s date night, so I won’t, just know I could. Mask has a plastic backing, but like most MBD masks, the eye holes are a bit too small. Mask sticks to my skin incredibly well. My skin felt softer, slightly firmer, and my red areas seemed calmer when I took the (still slightly wet) mask off an hour later. I was getting a little bit jaded about the results from sheet masks, but I’m really impressed with this one! The skin lighten aspect makes me a little bit nervous, so I’m not sure how often I would use this mask, but I’d definitely add it into my rotation!
The TonyMoly I’m Real Rice Face Mask Sheet Clear Skin, was left on until it went dry, for about 45 minutes, purchased as part of a TonyMoly package from Amazon ($10.76 for 11 masks) can be purchased individually from Peach & Lily ($4) and Sephora (2 for $7.50). The packaging from TonyMoly is always adorable and probably the reason I ended up with so many of their masks. Mask had a very light, mildly sweet scent. This mask, like the rest of the I’m Real masks, does have fragrance in it. Mask was fully saturated, but didn’t have any extra. Mask fits me well. My skin didn’t have the promised glow, but the next morning my skin did look more even. Not my favorite mask, but not terrible. I’d like to see a more pronounced result. Probably won’t repurchase.
Etude House Hand Bouquet Rich Collagen Hand Mask, left on for 20 minutes, purchased from Tester Korea ($2.21). This mask includes a set of essence (more like a lotion) soaked gloves and a set of regular plastic gloves to go on top. Gloves were pretty easy to unfold and apply, but definitely unfold the plastic gloves before putting on the essence soaked gloves. Gloves are comically big. Even double gloved, I could still use my hands to text. The packaging includes a diagram of a hand that illustrates pressure points and outlines how, according to Eastern medicine, you can relieve symptoms from eye fatigue to sniffles. The mask had a floral scent (mask includes fragrance) that was nice, not overpowering. When I removed the masks, I rubbed the remaining essence in. My hands were softer after. It was a great first step to an at home mani. Not life changing, but fun and effective. Would repurchase.
Patchology FlashPatch Eye Gels, left on for 15 minutes, then flipped for extra five minutes, received from the April Dermstore Beauty Fix box. The mask was coated with a solution that includes caffeine, sodium hyaluronate, centella asiatica, hydrolyzed collagen, and portulaca oleracea. Easy to apply to the under eye area, easy to flip to the top part of the eye to use solution on the other side. Eye gels had a light scent (gels include fragrance). Mask felt cool and refreshing. Had a short term effect on the fine lines around my eyes, really impressed me. Loved these eye gels, but the price means I’ll search for a dupe.
Secret Key Repairing Mask Pack, left on until mask was dry, about 25 minutes, purchased from Rose Rose Shop ($1.29 for 3). This is the driest mask I have used. It had essence, but wasn’t dripping or soaked like other sheet masks I’ve tried. The fit in the eyes was too big. It did stick to my face extremely well (probably because it was drier). No noticeable scent. Skin did seem slightly more hydrated after using the mask. Probably won’t repurchase, but will use all three.
